• The Man Who Can Scare Security Guards.

I was expecting Tim Minchin at Hammersmith to be great, obviously. The venue, however, needs to be moved somewhere away from terrifying roads.

Anyway, many people have told me I cannot still find the songs funny. They are wrong. All the songs were as amazing as usual, and this was my first time on the side of the piano. And it was amazing to watch. It's not until you really watch his hands you see the real talent he has on the piano. I particularly enjoyed The Song For Phil Daoust- my favourite- and Canvas Bags, as it makes me all nostalgic.

Tim was wearing some... interesting 'trousers'- although I'm not sure they even deserve that term. Skin tight shiny leggings. I was almost scared.

There was security guards and Tim spotted the big male one playing with his walkie talkie so he jumped off the stage onto him and took it from him. He then told him he could 'have it back at the end of the show' and that it served him right for fiddling with it. He then couldn't work it, and realised the man was wearing ear plugs. He threw it back, the man missed it and he ran towards the other side of the stage to do it again.... and there was a small woman security guard. Who looked a bit scared. He asked her 'If they all came forwards in a wave, would you protect me?'

There was an annoying heckler, but the second time he yelled out two women yelled 'SHUT UP!' at him, stopping Tim having to bother. Very kind I thought.

Tim just chanced on a bear who was an AMAZING dancer and 5 other bears came from backstage. Fancy that, eh?

But now for the coolest bit.... In Darkside, there were flames. Which changed colour. Yes, really.

White Wine in the Sun was our beautiful encore.

    Oh, and Wossy was there.

  • Holy Bible the best manics album? Really?

So, The Manic Street Preachers are back in the spotlight with their new album, Journal for Plauged Lovers, dealing with a lot of old ghosts and definately worth a listen, particularly 'Jackie Collins Existential Question Time', 'She Bathed in a Bath of Bleach' and 'Williams Last Words'. In the unlikely case anyone reading this has not already heard them (that and the unlikely case anyone is reading at all).

But I come not to ramble about their new stuff, everyone's doing enough of that already. Oh no. I come to question the unquestionable statement:
Holy Bible's the best Manics album? Really?

Now, I do not claim to have been a fan back in those days. In fact, I do not even claim to have been alive. But really? I'd like to humbley ask if everyone has completely forgotten the raw beauty of Generation Terrorists. As bands get more well-know and learned, they lose that sense of rawness only found in those who are clueless about the industry. If it wasn't for this, The Beatles would've always been the boring pop they became and the Sex Pistols would never have even existed. Oh, and you'd like classical music.

Ok, admittedly, some bands DO get better in time. The Horrors are a nice modern example, seeing as their new album probably tripled their fanbase. (Although I liked them before, but shush).

But what I like about Generation Terrorists which they seem to have lost by Holy Bible was, not only the rawness, but the steady guitar found in a lot of the tracks, moving them along and keeping them in time. Also, the singing is quite a bit more soft in many of them, as well as being agressive.

Right, I admit not to have argued this particularly well, but it's 10:30 at night and I've not been sleeping too good. (I might even delete this later...)

  • An explanation and introduction.

    Hello! *waves*
If you're bothering to read this, thank youuu!
I am Em. I'm 15, and when I'm all growed up I want to be a journalist (probably a music one). I like writing, and was recentley told that it's usually better to actually do some stuff if that's what you want to do....

So here I am. If you read anything and like it, tell me. If you read anything and think it was utter shit... tell me. Basically, if you bother to read anything, I would quite like feedback, no matter what you thought. As that is what grows you as a writer and what tells me it's probably best to do something else...

I'm not giving off a good impression, am I? Well, I'll write something soon, promise. I started drafting something out in English today, whether I have the courage to post it is a completely different question, but still.
